E-MTB / Test: The Moustache The Samedi 29 Trail 7 is currently receiving a substantial manufacturer's discount and will soon be available for just under €6.000. This makes the comfortable Bosch e-MTB a real bargain for trail-loving touring cyclists.
The French of Moustache Many years ago, they were among the first manufacturers to fully commit to e-bikes and e-MTBs. Their portfolio has steadily expanded since then, and now includes a wide variety of e-MTBs. The Samedi 29 Trail takes on the role of the all-rounder: 150 mm of travel, a solid aluminum frame, a Bosch CX motor with a 750 Wh battery, and modern geometry. It's hard to go wrong with that, right?
Solid equipment

The stylishly crafted frame offers some interesting details. These include, for example, the excellent battery securing system using a knurled nut on the downtube, which makes removal and insertion quick and easy. Attention has also been paid to the rear triangle. Moustache Quite proud of its design, the bike also features its own in-house developed shock absorber called "Magic Grip." The components on our test bike are a perfect match for its versatile character: The Fox 36 Performance fork is tried and tested, as is the mix of 12-speed Shimano XT and Deore components. Thanks to powerful 4-piston brakes, also from Shimano, and the very grippy Maxxis Assegai tires front and rear, you should be well-equipped for even more challenging terrain.

In practice, the first thing you notice is the very comfortable, rather upright seating position, which is mainly due to the high front. The rear triangle also shows a special character right from the first few meters, which allows it to stand out from the mass of e-MTBs. Due to its high sensitivity, especially at the beginning of the suspension travel, it offers a lot of comfort and almost completely irons out even small bumps. This distinctive driving feeling continues off-road: The Samedi 29 Trail conveys an enormous amount of safety here - provided the speed doesn't get too high. Thanks to its high front, the good tires and a good-natured chassis, you can easily maintain an overview and control.
However, if you leave your finger off the brake for a little longer, the chassis starts to sweat a bit, especially when dealing with larger impacts. The comfortable rear triangle then quickly becomes undefined and the necessary feedback from the ground is missing. If the trail slopes upwards, the French all-rounder works very well again: the front wheel rises late, the seating position is central and the Bosch CX pushes hard as usual. With the Samedi 29 Trail, even tricky uphill areas can be mastered very easily.
