Tour de la Provence #3: Tom Van Asbroeck intercepts Sam Bennett

February 11, 2024 by Michael Behringer

Van Asbroeck Provence

Cycling: Tom van Asbroeck won the third and final stage of the Tour de la Provence. The Belgian caught Sam Bennett just before the line in the demanding final sprint. The overall victory goes to Mads Pedersen.

Van Asbroeck & Pedersen can celebrate

He didn't manage to complete the perfect tour. Mads pedersen (Lidl – Trek) won the prologue and the first two stages of the Tour de la Provence and wanted to make the start-finish victory perfect today by winning all stages. Today, however, someone else was allowed to celebrate. At first it looked pretty good Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale). But the Irishman was caught just before the line Tom Van Asbroeck (Israel – Premier-Tech) sprinted over. Very few people probably expected the Belgian today. The overall victory still goes to Mads Pedersen, who started the sprint too early on today's final stage and ultimately has to settle for fifth place.
