Busch & Müller Ixxi in the test: We tested the small and light battery-powered LED rear light from the German manufacturer in great detail. Here we show you how the Ixxi performed.
The StVZO-compliant rear light from Busch and Müller stands out thanks to its small and compact shape. It consists of a solid core made entirely of red plastic and a rubber cover that surrounds the core from above and below. This means that the taillight can be removed for charging and a holder can remain on the seat post. The Ixxi also impresses with its simplicity; The brake light function is not available on this battery-powered rear light, but is on the sister model Brixxi from Busch and Müller installed.

Our test impression of the Busch & Müller Ixxi
packaging and assembly
We liked the packaging of the Ixxi the best complete test field. The Ixxi comes in a small cardboard box into which you can easily put the rear light back. Very commendable! Mounting it on the seat post is very easy. The entire back of the mount is made of rounded rubber so that the lamp can be easily adapted to many seat posts. The rubber holder ensures a good hold, the only point of criticism could be that there are only two possible gradations for the rubber tension band.
Operation and battery life
Operating the Busch & Müller Ixxi is very simple with just one mode: the large push button on the top of the lamp switches it on and off again. And that was it – really very simple! There is a small indicator LED at the bottom of the front that shows the battery level. If the LED lights up green permanently, the battery level is OK; if the green LED goes out, the battery should be recharged. The battery life of 15 hours is very long and the maximum in our test series in continuous light mode. Using the included micro-USB cable, charging takes around 5 hours.
With a weight of 33,85 grams including the holder, the Busch & Müller Ixxi is still pretty light. The side visibility of 320 degrees offers additional safety in traffic. The high-quality workmanship “Made in Germany” is available at a fair price of 26,90 euros.
