Kask Protone Icon and Kask Elemento: Two high-end helmets in focus

March 24, 2024 by Florian Nowak

Product news/test: The Italian brand Kask is known for high-quality bicycle helmets that are characterized by innovative technologies, high wearing comfort and stylish design. Two of the current top models are the Kask Protone Icon and the Kask Elemento. Both helmets are aimed at demanding cyclists, but they differ in some important aspects. In this article, we take a detailed look at both models and compare their features.

Kask Protone Icon – The classic in a new guise

The Kask Protone Icon is based on the iconic Protone, one of Kask's most successful helmets, and offers numerous improvements. Weighing around 230 grams (size M), it is one of the lighter helmets in its class. The Protone Icon is characterized by improved aerodynamics and ventilation without neglecting comfort.

Main features of the Protone Icon:

  • Weight: 230 g (size M)
  • Ventilation: Optimized air circulation through 14 ventilation openings
  • Technology: OCTO-Fit+ system for exact fit, UP&DOWN adjustment mechanism
  • Safety: WG11 test passed, which stands for its protective function in rotational impacts
  • Comfort: Antibacterial, breathable and washable inner lining

The Protone Icon impresses in practice with its pleasant wearing comfort. Thanks to the OCTO-Fit+ system, the helmet can be individually adjusted so that it sits securely and comfortably even on long journeys. The ventilation is excellent, especially in summer temperatures, the air flow ensures a pleasant climate under the helmet. The aerodynamic shape makes the Protone Icon suitable for both ambitious road riders and recreational athletes.

Kask Elemento – aerodynamics and innovation combined

The Kask Elemento is Kask's absolute high-end model and is aimed at professionals and cycling enthusiasts who do not want to make any compromises. With a weight of 260 grams (size M), it is a little heavier than the Protone Icon, but the focus of the Elemento is clearly on aerodynamics and the latest safety features.

Main features of the Elemento:

  • Weight: 260 g (size M)
  • Ventilation: New, strategically placed air channels for improved cooling
  • Technology: Fluid Carbon 12 and Multiprint technology for increased shock resistance and weight savings
  • Safety: Particularly high protection against side and frontal impacts, WG11 certified
  • Comfort: Even better fit thanks to carbon reinforcements and OCTO-Fit+ system

The Elemento impresses with its innovative **Fluid Carbon 12** technology, which ensures optimal shock absorption. In practice, the helmet sits extremely stable and comfortably on the head, even during intensive sprints it stays firmly in position. The **ventilation** is effective, although the focus is clearly on aerodynamics. The low air resistance is particularly noteworthy, which pays off especially at higher speeds.

The Kask Protone Icon and the Kask Elemento at a glance

Both the Kask Protone Icon and the Kask Elemento are among the best bicycle helmets on the market. The Protone Icon scores particularly well with its low weight and excellent ventilation, making it an ideal companion for long rides. The Elemento, on the other hand, offers even more aerodynamics and safety thanks to innovative technologies, making it the first choice for ambitious cyclists.

For recreational athletes and cyclists who place great value on comfort and ventilation, the Protone Icon is the better choice. However, if you are looking for maximum performance and the latest safety standards, you should go for the Kask Elemento. Both helmets offer the highest quality and are a worthwhile investment in safety on the bike.

But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
