Product news / test: The Mustache Dimanche adds an exciting, lightweight e-bike to the market. The bike with Bosch SX drive comes with a versatile aluminum frame, which, depending on the model, is the basis for a sporty e-road bike, for versatile e-gravel bikes or even commuter bikes or urban bikes. We were able to test the bike for a few hours.
As successful as e-bikes may be in general, as soon as the bike has racing handlebars, electrified bikes still have a hard time. There are a few reasons for this: Sure, the 25 km/h limit on racing bikes. Likewise the performance concept of the corresponding wheels. But also: Inappropriate concepts from the manufacturers. Mustache shows that things can be different here with the new Dimanche: Versatile and universally applicable, it shows that a motor can also be a more than useful addition to a drop-bar bike.
Mustache Dimanche: Beautiful and versatile aluminum frame
The Mustache Dimanche is based on an aluminum frame that is made in Portugal. The proven Bosch SX drive with the CompactTube 400 battery is responsible for the drive. Unfortunately, the latter is permanently integrated into the down tube.
The frame of the Mustache Dimanche is a real eye-catcher and wonderful proof that beautiful frame shapes, slim lines and low weights are also possible with aluminum. What we particularly like about the new Mustache e-bike is the integration of the motor, which allows you to take unusual routes. The unit sits rotated in the frame and is held by a self-developed interface. The charging port is located under a plastic cover. This is possibly the highest quality implementation of a charging port cover that we have seen on the Bosch SX to date - chapeau! A small passage for the cable also allows the PowerMore 250 range extender to be mounted. This can be found on one of the two bottle holders in the frame triangle.
The frame platform is designed to be universal and should cover the widest possible range of applications. Accordingly, the frame offers plenty of options: these include mounting points for mudguards as well as generous tire clearance of up to 50 mm. It is also available with a trapezoid frame up to frame size M – great!
Bosch SX with permanently integrated 400 Wh battery
The Bosch SX motor is now almost an old friend. With 55 Nm maximum torque and a motor weight of around 2 kg, it is one of the light-assist drives. What is special, however, is its high maximum power of up to 600 W, for which the rider's cadence must be quite high. This actually fits wonderfully with a sporty bike like the Mustache Dimanche - the Gravel-exclusive Sprint support level is also installed on the engine, which replaces the regular “Turbo”. The following applies here: the higher the cadence, the higher the performance. Until your legs give up or you reach 25 km/h.
models and trim levels
One of the great strengths of the new Dimanche 28 platform is its incredible variability, which Mustache also takes into account with many model variants. In addition to the two sporty basic models Gravel and Road, the Gravel version is also available as a fully equipped everyday model. Many models are also available with a trapezoidal frame with a low step-through and also with straight handlebars. This is how Mustache creates a wide variety of bikes: from high-end e-racing bikes with carbon wheels to chic urban runabouts with flat bars.
All variants have in common the very beautiful aluminum frame with clever details and the Bosch SX motor including 400 Wh battery. Unfortunately, the latter is permanently installed in all variants, but can be expanded using the PowerMore 250 range extender. The prices are also quite positive: they start at 3.599 euros and the top model is also downright affordable by today's standards at 5.999 euros.

First practical impressions with the Mustache Dimanche
As part of the E-Bike Days Munich, we had the opportunity to do a varied test lap with the new Mustache Dimanche before the official presentation. We used the Gravel 4 variant as our test bike - what was initially surprising was the handlebars, which were quite wide at 500 mm, but they went well with the generally very good-natured handling of the bike, which weighs around 19 kg. The seating position is quite sporty, but the saddle elevation remains within limits so that comfort is not neglected.
Speaking of comfort: the retractable and suspended seat post and the suspended stem installed in all Gravel variants are a real blessing on poor terrain. When it comes to the stem, you have to pay attention to the right setting in order to strike the right balance between comfort and direct steering behavior, but then the component is a real asset.
The Mustache Dimanche feels particularly comfortable in more open terrain. Its considerable dimensions and wide handlebars take away some of its liveliness, but this was only noticeable on a short stretch of trail during our ride, which is likely to remain the exception with a gravel bike.
For us, the Mustache Dimanche is a high-quality and extremely versatile e-bike that is particularly strong when used as a sporty everyday bike. The fully equipped variants in particular are likely to strike a chord with many commuters and are worth a closer look, and not just because of their attractive price.
