Flyer new products 2024: The e-bike specialists from Switzerland show with their 2024 new products how broadly positioned they are: from the classic e-touring bike to the sporty urban bike to the young genre of the “Light Assist e-bike” in the form of a lightweight, full-suspension mountain bike that was introduced just a few days ago. Here are the highlights from the 2024 Flyer model range.
A flyer without an engine? Never existed and is unlikely to come onto the market in the future. The company from Huttwil has been driving forward the development of electric bikes for almost 30 years, and in recent years the model range has diversified significantly. The legendary look of earlier years - a clear-coated aluminum frame with round shapes and the harmonious Panasonic mid-engine - has given way to clear lines and fresh colors, although Flyer still remains faithful to the original technology with a touring model.

Flyer Upstreet SL3.10: Sporty everyday e-bike with Bosch SX
Today, however, the focus is on other drive and model variants, and that is what the new Flyer Upstreet SL3.10 stands for. The winner of a Eurobike Award ushers in a new era at Flyer: With the state-of-the-art Bosch SX motor, the “urban lightweight” (O-Ton Flyer) is a truly sporty everyday and touring bike, whose weight of around 18 kilos is light on its feet let move. The nine-speed cassette with a wide range of 11-46 teeth ensures that you can always pedal at the rather high cadence, which elicits dynamic thrust from the Bosch motor. Even with “only” 400 watt hours in the slim down tube, you don’t have to worry about range: the sporty bike is likely to be moved at speeds above 25 km/h often enough, so the drive is by no means constantly in use. The car driving mode is very interesting, as it adapts the support to the respective situation and should therefore also save electricity.
Flyer relies on lightweight wheels from DT Swiss, equipped with a fast gravel tire whose 47 mm width ensures pleasant comfort. A carbon rigid fork provides steering precision; Details such as the rear carrier for bags, the long mudguards and a bright 100 lux spotlight prove useful in everyday life. A technical treat is the one-piece carbon cockpit, which allows the gear cable and brake lines to disappear into the frame and fork. This means that the Upstreet exudes an elegance that is just as good in city traffic as the driving characteristics of the lightweight.

Flyer Gotour 7.10: touring bike with an athlete's heart
It's no wonder that the Swiss in particular played a major role in the spread of e-bikes: the mountainous terrain of the Alpine country is not necessarily conducive to bicycle mobility, and so they thought about alternatives there early on. The Gotour is therefore a typical Flyer: As a comfortable touring bike with suspension fork and seat post, it is just as suitable for use in the city as for trips in the surrounding area. And it can be a steep climb, because Flyer specifies the most powerful Bosch motor with the Performance CX and adds a 750 watt-hour battery, which is good for many kilometers and meters of altitude.
The sporty ten-speed derailleur allows gear changes even under load; Their slightly narrower gradation suits well for use in city traffic and on tours. A model variant with hub gears and belt drive is also available. If you want to travel with luggage, you will find an elegantly mounted rear rack that can carry a whopping 27 kilos. The frame lock, which is quickly locked and provides a high level of theft protection if the bike is not parked for a long time, is useful for short stops. The Gotour also lives up to its manufacturer's premium standards with its super bright front light.
Typical of the Bosch Smart System are numerous connectivity functions, from theft protection via “E-Bike Lock” to navigation and the individual coordination of support modes. And so the touring bike, available in three frame shapes, really offers everything that discerning bike enthusiasts need for their everyday and leisure rides.
Goroc TR:X 8.63: Adventure guaranteed!
Where people live in the middle of a wild mountain world, there is great interest in outdoor activities - and today this also includes mountain biking, whether downhill-oriented or aimed at long, difficult climbing. However, not everyone wants to afford a specialized (e-)bike for these areas of use and for everyday use - and that's why all-rounders like the Flyer Goroc are very popular.
With this model series, Flyer was one of the pioneers of the market segment that is generally called “E-SUV” - e-trekking bikes that go even further towards mountain bikes with knobby tires, more suspension travel and strong motor support. The Swiss have gone one better with the Goroc TR:X 8.63, because the new model - which has already won a Design & Innovation Award - is equipped with the most modern drive system currently available, the Pinion MGU. The combination of 85 Nm mid-motor and twelve-speed bottom bracket gearbox has many advantages, including up to four times the assistance power, a lot of range thanks to the 700 Wh battery and a gear ratio of 600%. And beyond the performance data, factors such as the extremely low maintenance, electronic switching functions and smart options such as personal adjustment of the support levels, navigation and theft protection are convincing.
The function of the rear suspension also benefits from the bottom bracket gear. 130 mm of suspension travel at the front and rear offers large reserves on difficult terrain and ensures good drivability on smooth surfaces. Ultimately, the Goroc should also function as an everyday bike. Attachments such as the minimalist rear rack for side bags, a lighting system with 100 lux spotlights including daytime running lights and, of course, a parking stand are available for this area. The lowerable seat post fulfills an important function in city traffic and off-road: it makes it easier to get on and off and allows the rider's center of gravity to be lowered and more freedom of movement on the bike when descending off-road. And so this component is symbolic of the great versatility of the Flyer Goroc - from the daily commute to off-road adventures.
Uproc SL:X: Superlight trail sensation
Flyer has now developed into a respected provider of e-mountain bikes, and with the brand new Uproc SL:X, which was first introduced at the beginning of May, the manufacturer is likely to significantly increase its reputation again. With the new model, Flyer is entering the light-assist bike segment - the still young category that, thanks to its low weight, combines the playful handling of non-motorized bikes with targeted drive support.
The Bosch SX motor, which is also quite young, is a very good choice: 900 grams lighter than the powerful Bosch CX, it is significantly weaker on paper with 55 Nm of torque. However, it builds up dynamic thrust at a high cadence and thus offers a natural riding feeling, especially for sporty bikers who want to provide propulsion themselves. With a 400 Wh battery and optional 250 Wh additional storage, the SX drive has a very long range - and not least because the Uproc can also be moved completely under its own power.
The new model is based on a lightweight carbon frame, whose special features include a rear swing arm with flex zones instead of bearings. With 130 mm of suspension travel at the front and rear, the chassis is tailored to both fast cross-country tours and downhill-oriented terrain; The UDH dropout with corresponding rear derailleur ensures great robustness in difficult terrain.
More information about the new Uproc can be found in our extensive test, which we held at the bike festival in Riva - it is already clear that Flyer is opening a new chapter in its history with this bike.
