E-bike trends 2025

E-Bikes and Bicycle Trends 2025: Various innovations and trends are in the starting blocks for the 2025 cycling season, which is about to begin. Together with the Press service bicycle what's new in the bicycle industry.

1)E-Bike Trends 2025: Mobility solutions for all

Cycling is for everyone – and that is why new solutions are constantly coming onto the market to enable more people to enjoy it. Special bike manufacturers HP Velotechnik offers a hand drive for its tricycles with the "Hands-on Cycle" so that people who cannot move their legs can also be mobile by bike. For tall and heavy people, there are e-bikes with special frames and components that allow a total weight of up to 180 kilograms. Manufacturer Pegasus has a Strong series in its program, for example. And the little ones are also thought of: Croozers allows babies from the first month to be carried in a hammock or in a child seat in its trailers. To make it easier to learn to ride a bike, Puky the “LS Pro16-2 Flowmatic” new in the range. The children's bike has an automatic two-speed gearshift. This means that children don't have to think about changing gears while riding.

2) Agile e-bikes with small tires

20 inches is only for children's bikes? Not at all! The small wheels are installed on so-called compact bikes and are currently conquering the cities. The advantage: bikes with such wheels can be ridden easily and stored in a space-saving manner, e.g. in the hallway, in the basement or even in the apartment. The Cologne-based company I:sy offers with the "Skyfly S10" an e-compact bike with a carbon frame that, according to the manufacturer, should weigh less than 17 kilograms. It also has a quick release on the seat post so that the saddle height can be quickly adjusted. Most compact bikes are designed as one-size models, so they cover a wide range of body sizes and can therefore be ridden by several people. Another example is the "Radius" from the Schweinfurt manufacturer Winora, which has a rotating handlebar, an integrated carrying handle and a retractable seat post. With the Cargobike “CS”, the Koblenz-based manufacturer Ca Go There is even a new segment for 20-inch wheels: the City Utility Vehicle. The bike is visually eye-catching and has several luggage racks so that everyday items can be transported - from a crate of drinks to a child seat.

3) E-Bike Trends 2025: E-Mountainbikes for Children

E-bikes for children have found their perfect purpose: as e-mountain bikes for family tours. For the new season, the Puky brand Eightshot is offering the "Loamer 24" an e-mountain bike for children from a height of 128 centimeters. The bike is supported by a Mahle hub motor and a 250 watt-hour battery. Most of the e-MTBs roll on 24-inch wheels and are therefore one of the important e-bike trends for 2025.

4) Comfortable e-biking

Automatic gear shifting on e-bikes is one of the current trend topics. Engine and transmission manufacturers Pinion has now expanded its Smart Shift function to all models of its motor-gear unit (MGU). The system automatically takes over the gear shifting based on the selected cadence. The system is used, for example, in the new S-Pedelec "Upstreet TR:CF 7.63 HS" Flyer To prevent the front wheel from locking and thus enable better braking, Bosch offers an ABS for e-bikes. The system can be found, for example, on the ““Sonic Evo AM 3 ABS” from Bulls an all-mountain E-MTB. The Bavarian engine manufacturer fazua relies on a light, sporty drive for its “Ride-60” series, which can be customized via app. The different driving modes can be adjusted to suit personal needs. Riese & Müller, for example, uses the "UBN Seven" on the system.

5) E-Bike Trends 2025: Increase suitability for everyday use

When it comes to bicycle accessories, the focus is on improving everyday applications. Safety specialist Abus presents various new locks, such as the “Yardo” or a revised version of the classic “Bordo”, which feature fingerprint technology. Opening and closing is done via the fingerprint. Inflation is made easier Schwalbe with its new valve “Clik Valve”. The valve head of the pump is simply clicked onto the valve – no levers or screw heads are required. Suitable pumps are already available SKS Germany There are also retrofit kits with valve and pump adapters. The new trailer offers flexibility in everyday life "Yuuna" by CroozerIt can be designed to suit your personal needs, for example with foldable seats for more storage space, for a baby seat or for the possibility of transporting a dog and child in one trailer.

6) Improved security features

Direction indicators for bicycles and e-bikes have been officially permitted in Germany since June 2024. Indicator systems such as the “Turntec" by Busch & Müller, will therefore be seen on more and more bikes this year and will increase safety for cyclists. There is also the option of equipping the helmet with indicators, as with the new “Hyp-E BL.ACE” by Abus. The head protection also has a front and rear light as well as a brake light. GPS trackers can be used for theft protection, e.g. "It's my bike", can be installed. In addition, the range of special bicycle insurance policies has also increased. The company Linexo offers, for example, complete protection for bicycles and e-bikes. This includes not only reimbursement in the event of theft, but also assistance in the event of breakdowns and reimbursement of costs in the event of repairs and damage. Anyone who installs a GPS tracker gets an improved tariff.

7) E-Bike Trends 2025: Practical Road Bike Features

Aside from e-bikes, there are interesting developments in the racing bike market: In addition to the high-speed machines of professional and ambitious hobby riders, racing bikes are also increasingly developing into fast commuting alternatives. The Basque manufacturer Orbea shows with the "Avant" a racing bike with an aluminum frame, the geometry of which is designed for long training sessions. The racer underlines its suitability for everyday use and commuting with a service box in the down tube, where spare tubes, tire levers, house keys and wallets can be stored. The bike also has mounting points for conventional mudguards. Racing bikes without these eyelets can be fitted with mudguards such as the “Raceblade Pro XL” from SKS Germany The set of mudguards for the front and rear wheels is designed for racing bike tire widths of 25 to 32 millimeters. If you want to be sporty and fast on the way to work, but don't want to give up on dirt roads, then you should go for the trendy gravel bike. The market share of racing bikes with wider, all-terrain tires has been growing for years. With the "Colmaro Allroad“ the Dutch manufacturer offers Who a versatile companion for sporty tours in everyday life and leisure time. For more comfort on racing handlebars, the "BT Orthocell Pads” from ErgonThe pads are glued under the handlebar tape at the grip positions, relieve the strain on hands and wrists and thus increase riding comfort.

8) Circular economy and repairability

Saving resources, creating material cycles and ensuring that products can be repaired are demands that are being made of politicians. For bag specialist Ortlieb The topics have been relevant since the company was founded over 40 years ago. The company focuses on the longevity of its products, local production and repairability where possible. For example, the new handlebar bag "Velo-Sling", which can be converted into a shoulder bag. The e-bike manufacturer Riese & Müller developed its cargo bike “Carrie” according to the principles of circular design. Over 80 percent of the aluminum used in the bike frame is recycled. Tire manufacturer Schwalbe with its touring tire "Green Marathon". The tire is made of 80 percent recycled and renewable materials. It is also the only tire that is made with soot from recycled bicycle tires, which is obtained in a pyrolysis process. The pyrolysis oil produced in the process can in turn be used to make polyamide fibers, which the manufacturer Vaude uses in cycling and trekking pants, for example. Other bicycle products from the outdoor specialist use polyester yarn made from recycled PET bottles or material residues from other production processes. Sustainability will therefore continue to be one of the e-bike trends in 2025.
