Cycling: Tim Merlier won the third stage of the AlUla Tour and can now celebrate his second daily victory. The overall leader was lucky. Tom Pidcock suffered a flat tire in the last three kilometers and therefore received the same time as the winner. There was a serious fall in the last kilometer. Nils Eekhoff fell and hit a pillar. We do not yet know anything about his health.
Merlier does not stop the wind edge
Again Tim Merlier (Soudal – Quick-Step). The Belgian won the 180,6-kilometer third stage of the AlUla Tour from Hegra to Tayma Fort. In the mass sprint he left the Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco-AlUla) and Juan Molano (UAE – XRG) behind him. A wind edge initiated by Team Tudor caused a selection in the last part of the race. Bad luck again alexander kristoff (Uno-X Mobility). The Norwegian suffered another flat tire at the worst possible moment. The overall leader tom pidcock (Q36.5) had it less hard. Due to his defect within the last three kilometers, he was given the winning time.
