The brand new Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy 2.0: Aluminum wheels for real bikers

June 30, 2025 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The brand-new Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy 2.0 aluminum wheels are here, and according to the manufacturer, they herald a new evolution of aluminum wheels. They're so confident that the wheels come with a lifetime warranty. The new wheels are specifically tuned for the front and rear wheels and now feature improved materials, surfaces, and geometries. The result is a stronger wheel for even more confidence.

Improved materials & finish

Constructed from 6069 aluminum, the Synthesis Alloy 2.0 rims offer excellent tensile, yield, fatigue, and shear strength. These increase protection against dents, cracks, and deformation for exceptional durability. The shot-peened finish further strengthens the rim with a hardened outer layer that prevents cracks and material failure.

New rim profile

Thanks to a revised sidewall geometry and targeted material reinforcement in the rim base and flanks, the profile is more robust and impact-resistant. Every design decision is aimed at optimal performance and durability.

Tuned Wheel System

As with all Synthesis wheels, the front wheel is engineered for compliance and traction, while the rear wheel offers stiffness and stability. Specially tuned spoke count, spoke thickness, and rim geometry ensure control at the front wheel and stability at the rear – for an unsurpassed ride experience.

Lifetime warranty

Thanks to the increased robustness, Crankbrothers offers a lifetime warranty on all original Synthesis Alloy 2.0 rims. If the rim breaks, dents, or is damaged on the trail—whether due to hard impacts, cracks in the spoke hole, or punctures—you'll receive a free replacement.

Crankbrothers test facility – from the lab to the toughest trails

At its headquarters in San Clemente, California, Cranbrothers tests its components and wheels in its own facility. From massive impacts to fatigue cycles and countless trail laps, the prototypes are subjected to extreme stresses. This includes the Synthesis Alloy 2.0, which has been tested in the lab, in the field, and on World Cup courses.

We've also already tested the new Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy 2.0. More information will be available here soon!

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
