More dosability and ease of maintenance in all application areas: Hope EVO brakes for XC, Trail and Gravity

June 26, 2025 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: The Hope Tech 4 brake has been successfully on the market for four years, but now it's time for some fine-tuning and optimization. The new EVO brakes come with several innovations: more braking power and better ergonomics thanks to improvements in the reservoirs and brake calipers, as well as even greater control and ease of maintenance in all applications.

With the new EVO brakes, Hope is bringing a new player into the game. The EVO is available for XC, Trail, and Gravity. The model names are similar to current terms. This was deliberately chosen so that buyers can choose the right brake from the range. The four-piston EVO GR4, for example, is intended to be the new benchmark for gravity and e-bikes. With the EVO TR4, Hope promises the ultimate four-piston brake for trail bikes. The EVO X2 is a two-piston brake for downcountry and XC.

There are three different brake lever options. All EVO series levers feature a larger hook for more control and confidence during aggressive maneuvers. The redesigned contact surface is designed to provide more comfort while still providing sufficient grip during hard braking in all weather conditions. All levers offer adjustable lever reach and bite point. The newly developed cam reduces free travel, while maintaining the modulated braking feel familiar from the Tech 4, according to the manufacturer.

A bleed hole on the reservoir allows for easy and convenient bleeding of the brakes without having to remove the reservoir cap. The traditional bleeding procedure with the reservoir cap removed is still possible. The main pivot, including the cartridge bearing and the guide bushing, have been adopted from the Tech 4. A new second guide bushing ensures perfectly straight piston travel, allowing it to be smoothly pushed into the bore throughout the entire braking process.
