German championship: Zimmermann crowned German Champion

Cycling: Georg Zimmermann has won the German Championship. In a thrilling race, the 27-year-old emerged victorious from a group in the sprint. Franziska Koch celebrates in the women's race.

Zimmermann takes the title

The new German road cycling champion is George Zimmerman (Intermarché – Wanty). The 27-year-old has secured himself a top spot on the 198-kilometer circuit with start and finish in Linden. Felix Engelhardt (Jayco AlUla) after a driving time of over four and a half hours. Things weren't looking so good for him on the way. During a very fast phase, Zimmermann suffered a defect, was thrown back, and was only able to recover with the help of his teammate. Jonas slip (Intermarché – Wanty) to regain the lead. At one of the most exciting German Championships of recent years, Anton Schiffer (BIKE AID) in third place. In the women’s category, Franziska Koch (Picnic PostNL) are happy about defending their title. Leni Bauer and Benedict Benz (JEGG-SKIL-DJR) have won the German championship jersey for juniors.



Schachmann & Niedermaier German Time Trial Champions

In the time trial Maximilian schachmann (Soudal Quick-Step) won the German Championship title for the first time. On the 22,5-kilometer course with start and finish in Ramstein, he defeated Miguel Heideman (REMBE | rad-net) by 17 seconds to second place. In the women's race, Antonia Niedermaier (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto). Bruno Kessler (REMBE | rad-net) or Justyna Czapla (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) were able to celebrate in the U23 class.
