After great success: Thok TP4-S & TP4 – two new models with a fresh look

June 18, 2025 by Florian Strigel

Thok TP4-S & TP4

E-MTB: Following its successful launch last fall, Thok is now introducing two new models of the TP4 all-mountain e-bike. These come with the latest 100 Nm update to the Bosch CX (Gen 5).

Thok TP4: The new models

Due to high demand for the successful models TP4-R and TP4 limited, Thok now offers two new models. TP4 is a cheaper entry-level variant and is available for €5.990. TP4-S Thok follows the path of the “old” TP4-R: The equipment is exactly the same. The new TP4-S costs €6.990, while the TP4-R costs €7.590. The price difference results from the country of manufacture: The frames of the TP4 and TP4-S are produced in Taiwan, while the TP4-R is manufactured in Italy. Otherwise, the frames are identical. Thok CEO Stefano Migliorini explains this move as follows:

The TP4-R Made in Italy model has experienced greater than expected demand, so much so that the entire production capacity for 2025 is already sold out. It is currently possible to pre-order the TP4-R model for 2026 or purchase a TP4-S model with the same components. The TP4-S is available immediately and is offered at a lower price. Of course, we continue to offer the Made in Italy option with the TP4-R, but can currently only do so for a limited number of bikes. To serve the market, we have expanded our portfolio with the TP4-S and TP4.

As with the first models, the new TP4 and TP4-S models use modern, unidirectional carbon fibers. The manufacturing technology and know-how from Italy are also incorporated into the new frames from Asia. We were able to test the TP4-R, which, as mentioned, is identical to the TP4-S, last fall. The test can therefore be applied to the new TP4-S: Here is the testThe only difference: The new model already features the latest Bosch update with 100 Nm of torque. More on that in a moment. Both the TP4-S and the TP4 are available in the new colors. Forge Red and dragon green .

engine and battery

Both new models come with the new Bosch CX (Gen 5) and feature the latest update to 100 Nm of torque. Included in the package is the new eMTB+ mode, as well as the ability to customize the new modes using the eBike Flow app. We were already able to test the new TP4-S as part of the Thok Tribe. Conclusion: The Bosch update complements and improves the excellent uphill characteristics from our Test last fall and crowns the eBike the absolute climbing king!

Built-in components

The TP4-S comes in the same configuration as the TP4-R, which we tested last fall: Here is the testFor the suspension, Thok relies on the Fox Performance line with a 36-inch fork, combined with DT Swiss H1900 wheels. The drivetrain consists of a reliable Shimano SLX-XT mix. Magura MT5 four-piston brakes take care of the rebound.

Built-in components

In terms of equipment, Thok relies on affordable, reliable components for the TP4. A Shimano Deore brake system and large 203 mm discs ensure reliable deceleration. For the chassis, Thok relies on solid FOX suspension elements: The 36 Float Rhythm suspension fork with 160 mm travel and the Float Rhythm shock with THOK-specific tuning offer balanced performance that is more than sufficient for most riders. In terms of gearing, Thok relies on a mix of Shimano SLX 12-speed rear derailleur combined with a Deore cassette and shift lever. The in-house variable seat post with up to 200 mm travel (sizes L/XL), together with other in-house components such as handlebars, stem, saddle, and wheels, offers well-thought-out and functional equipment. All of this results in a harmonious overall package that covers everyday suitability and trail performance equally.

Thok – by bikers for bikers

As mentioned at the beginning, we could test the new TP4-S again at the annual Thok Tribe. Thok places great value on customer proximity – accordingly, the event hosts various rides with customers, and in the evenings there are plenty of reasons to celebrate. This year's destination was Malè in Trentino – which, incidentally, is also where the UCI World Cup takes place. This friendly, small event is usually attended by around 300 to 400 people and offers the opportunity to tour with the Thok team and even with the boss and former downhill pro Stefano himself. So, if you're looking for an authentic, small manufacturer, you're sure to find what you're looking for at Thok. The focus on Made in Europe certainly contributes to this.
