Cycling: Juan Ayuso won the twelfth stage of the Vuelta a España. The controversial Spaniard celebrated his second stage victory. There were no changes in the battle for the red jersey.

Ayuso leaves Romo no chance

A staggering 53 riders broke away from the peloton on the 144,9-kilometer stage from Laredo to Los Corrales de Buelna. On the final climb of the day, two Spaniards, Juan Ayuso (UAE-XRG) and Javier Romo (Movistar), launched their attack and contested the stage victory. Ayuso, who repeatedly refused to take the lead in the final kilometers, ultimately left Romo no chance in the sprint. This marks his second stage win at this year's Vuelta a España. His team, UAE-XRG, now boasts five stage victories.
