Three new models with smart technology: Gazelle Avignon 2026

3 November 2025 by Caspar Gebel

Gazelle Avignon 2026: The traditional Dutch brand is launching its premium model in three new variants. The focus is on powerful engines and high shifting comfort.

The Avignon series from Dutch bicycle manufacturer Gazelle stands for "premium comfort"—and now also for particularly powerful motorization. For 2026, the long-established bicycle manufacturer is introducing three new versions of the touring bike, two of which are equipped with the new Bosch Performance Line PX. This means a standard torque of 85 Nm, which can be optionally increased to 90 Nm via the Bosch app—ideal for those who prefer riding at lower cadences.

Gazelle Avignon 2026: Comfort model with upright seating position

Gazelle's luxury model features flowing frame lines and smooth tube connections; the integration of the rear rack, for example, is very successful – both technically and aesthetically. The internally routed cables also contribute to a clean, aesthetically pleasing appearance; these are complemented by typical Dutch features such as the headlight integrated into the front fender and the transparent rear wheel guard. The U-shaped crown of the suspension fork, specially developed for Avignon, is also a striking detail.

The drive system includes the Kiox 500 color display, which is mounted relatively high on the Avignon and should therefore be easily visible. Furthermore, there are three battery options: 540 Wh, 600 Wh, or 800 Wh, each integrated into the downtube and removable from the top.

Continuously variable and even automatic switching (or letting it be switched)

The two top models, the Gazelle Avignon C380 and C380+, are also at the forefront when it comes to shifting comfort: The Dutch manufacturer equips them with the continuously variable Enviolo hub, the standard version with a twist grip shifter and the "+" version with the Automatiq variant, which constantly adjusts the gear ratio to maintain a pre-set desired cadence. The third model in the range, the Avignon C5, features the easy-to-use Shimano Nexus Inter-5E hub gear, whose gears are designed for powerful mid-drive motors. This bike, equipped with the Bosch Performance motor (75 Nm), is still very well-powered – a harmonious drive system that can handle almost any hill.

In the top-of-the-line Avignon C380+, the continuously variable transmission operates fully automatically.
The second model in the Avignon series also comes with a continuously variable transmission and toothed belt.

All three models feature a maintenance-free, clean belt drive, which, thanks to its tension pulley, runs close to the attractively designed cover that integrates seamlessly into the frame. An integrated brake light is standard for increased visibility, while the extra-wide tires improve grip and riding comfort. The leather grips feel good in the hand, and a combination of a suspension seatpost and gel saddle enhances seating comfort. Clever security features are also included: a classic frame lock for short stops and the Gazelle Protect GPS tracker, which allows for remote monitoring via the Gazelle app.

For the Avignon C5, Gazelle uses the Bosch Performance motor, again combined with a toothed belt.

Gazelle Avignon 2026: an overview of the three new models

  • Avignon C5 (from €4.399): Bosch Performance Line with 75 Nm torque, Shimano Nexus Inter-5E internal gear hub, belt drive
  • Avignon C380 (from €4.799): Bosch Performance Line PX with 85 Nm torque (update to 90 Nm), Enviolo continuously variable transmission, belt drive
  • Avignon C380+ (from €5.199): Bosch Performance Line PX with 85 Nm torque (update to 90 Nm), continuously variable electronic transmission Enviolo Automatic, belt drive

Anyone who wants to take a look at the new Avignon models or take a test drive can do so at the nearest Gazelle E-Bike Test Center (Velomotion.de reported). The entire model range, in all common sizes, is currently available at six locations across Germany, and interested parties can receive free advice. And since sales are handled through specialist retailers, there is no obligation to visit the ETC.
