World-class - the bike of the XC world champion: The new Giant Anthem Advanced SL

12 November 2025 by Andrew Waldera

The new Giant Anthem Advanced SL

Product News: To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Anthem XC series, Giant presents the new Anthem Advanced SL. Developed in close collaboration with two-time world champion Alan Hatherly, the model was used as a prototype throughout the entire 2025 World Cup season. Hatherly impressively underlined the performance of the XC bike with his victory at the Elite XCO World Championships in Switzerland.

The new Giant Anthem Advanced SL sets new standards in professional XC racing. With the Elite XCO World Championship title under its belt, this bike leaves no doubt about its intended use. Designed for fast, technical, and demanding XC races, the super-light carbon racer combines maximum efficiency with precise control, according to the manufacturer. The completely redesigned FlexPoint Pro suspension system offers 120 mm of travel front and rear. Thanks to flip-chip technology, the geometry can be flexibly adjusted to any track and terrain, allowing the bike to be perfectly tuned for XC courses.

With its newly developed carbon frameset, Giant takes the Anthem concept to a new level. The completely redesigned frame significantly reduces weight while simultaneously improving the stiffness-to-weight ratio – for greater efficiency, precise power transfer, and outstanding climbing performance. The super-lightweight rear swingarm, made from Giant's Advanced-Grade carbon, ensures minimal flex and an active riding feel. The new suspension positioning – with the shock located under the top tube – also results in a clean, semi-integrated frame design with space for two water bottles.

All components, from the wheels to the integrated cockpit, are designed for immediate response and maximum performance, according to Giant. The Anthem Advanced SL series XCR and XCA wheel systems feature a 10° spline between the hub and freehub, enabling efficient and consistent power transfer with reduced stress on the components. Giant's carbon or aluminum wheels are equipped with Wide Guard technology: 5 mm rounded, hookless rim edges increase tire protection, reduce the risk of sidewall damage, and allow for lower tire pressures.
