While SRAM's T-Type transmission has spread its wings and soared to ever greater heights of popularity, the Americans are quietly replacing the well-known X-Sync Eagle drivetrains, some of which have been found on mountain bikes worldwide for a full decade. These are being replaced by the Eagle S500, S200, and S100. Here you'll find all the information about the new SRAM groupsets without T-Type!

High-quality wireless switching unit as a replacement for the XX1 AXS: The new S500 AXS
The classic SRAM Eagle AXS groupsets are now being phased out – XX1, X01, and GX Eagle AXS are thus ending their groundbreaking careers. They are being replaced by the SRAM S500 groupset, which also features electronic shifting, not to be confused with the American company's mechanical S-500 drop-bar brake levers.
The S500 rear derailleur utilizes the same technologies as previous AXS derailleurs, such as the clutch with motor-assisted quick-release function. Also familiar is the XG-1299 cassette from the XX1 series. The lightweight and aesthetically pleasing X-Dome cassette continues to be available in 10-50t and 10-52t versions. A surprise, however, is the new SRAM S500 chain: it is not identical to the X01 or XX1 chains and does not feature HollowPin technology. Like the cassette, it is only available in gold or with an oilslick finish.
The S500 groupset does not have a dedicated shift lever. Riders can choose from existing AXS controllers thanks to its broad compatibility.
SRAM has released a new S500 crankset. As expected, the American company has opted for carbon fiber crank arms, paired with the familiar X-Sync 2 aluminum chainring in a simple, dark finish. The crankset is available in 170mm and 175mm lengths as a Boost version, as well as for 55mm wide chainlines. Interestingly, the S500 crankset retains the 3-bolt chainring mounting standard, while the vast majority of cranksets in the Transmission series now use an 8-bolt system.
- replaced XX1, X01 & GX Eagle AXS
- Variants 170 / 175 mm; Boost / Wide; 10-50t and 10-52t gear ratios
- Features XG-1299 as the only cassette; no HollowPin chain; carbon crankset

Robust and mechanical: That's the S200 shifting group.
The S200 arguably has the biggest shoes to fill. This mechanical groupset is intended to replace the first widely used 12-speed groupset: XX1, X01, and GX Eagle are all grouped under this name. Anyone wanting to reminisce about the early days of SRAM Eagle can read one of our first articles about it here. SRAM twelve-speed drivetrain read.
The S200 rear derailleur, like its electronic counterpart, retains all the same features: X-Actuation ensures compatibility with all Eagle shifters, and the Type 3 clutch is still included. The S200 shifter is based on its transmission sibling from the Eagle 90 and comes with a stealth cable exit. It is also compatible with the MatchMaker system and can be easily mounted to the brake lever. A single-click version for e-bikes is also available.
The XG-1275 cassette from the GX Eagle lineup will be integrated into the S200 series with a new look. It will remain available in 10-50t and 10-52t versions. A new S200 chain, with a finish reminiscent of the GX Eagle chain, will be used with it.
Under the S200 banner, SRAM offers only a single aluminum crankset; there is no carbon version. However, this series offers the widest selection in terms of crank length and chainline. Everything from 155 to 175 mm is available, including Boost and Wide versions.
- replaced XX1, X01 & GX Eagle
- Variants 165 / 170 / 175 mm; Boost / Wide / Fat cranks; 10-50t and 10-52t gear ratios; Single Click
- Features XG-1275 as the only cassette; only aluminum crank.

Perfect for 12-speed beginners: The S100 groupset in detail
Radically reduced in size, yet featuring a feature that other groups lack, the affordable S100 groupset presents itself. It replaces the NX and SX Eagle groups. New is the Half Mount feature: On UDH-compatible frames, the derailleur mount can be equipped with additional support. Half Mount is optional but is designed to improve robustness and performance. This feature is only compatible with the S100 rear derailleur.
The cassette is also a familiar one: It exclusively uses the PG-1210 cassette from the SX series. As the only one of the new S-series cassettes, it is HG-compatible and therefore comes with an 11-50t gear range. Furthermore, the three smallest sprockets (11-13-15t) are interchangeable.
The shifter and chain have been redesigned for the S100 groupset. The shifter features a stealth design to route the cable closer to the handlebar; the clamp is permanently integrated and cannot be removed. SRAM also offers a single-click version for e-bikes.
The S100 aluminum crankset completely forgoes the DUB bottom bracket standard and is available exclusively as a Powerspline design. It is therefore three-piece and is installed like a square taper crankset. It is available in lengths from 155 to 175 mm.
